Home/That's how the cookie crumbles!

If you are concerned about the new EU cookie laws don’t be. At Artavia we are looking at ways to minimise the effects of the EUs Privacy and Communications Directive to the benefit of our clients.

The Government has extended the deadline for making sites compliant by one year to the May 26th 2012 stating that there will be 'no overnight changes'. In addition the government says it is looking for a "Business Friendly" solution with light-touch regulation.

Communication minister Ed Vaizey commented
"We recognise that some website users have real concerns around online privacy but also recognise that cookies play a key role in the smooth running of the internet,"

later adding "But it will take some time for workable technical solutions to be developed, evaluated and rolled out so we have decided that a phased in approach is right,"

Solutions being sought by a working group constituting of the Government and browser manufactures are looking at browser based solutions which may mean that little change will be required for website content.

The latest versions of Internet explorer and Firefox already offer setting that will overcome the perceived issues and essential cookies such as those required for a shopping cart can be used without permission.
